The Tracy Futbol Club under-11 girls team, Tracy Crush, completed its nine-game run for the NorCal State Cup on Saturday at Granite Park in Sacramento.

The Crush took home the first-place title after beating Elk Grove Everton in the NorCal State Cup Super 3 Championship match. The game was tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation play, and the Crush won it on a 4-3 penalty kick shootout at the end.

Samantha Tran scored two goals for the Crush, one off a pass from Mattison Stokes, and the other was off a cross from Hayley Fife. Maya Lopez controlled the middle of the field while Nicole Kelsey and Halle Burrell dominated the defense.

Throughout the tournament, just about every player scored goals and controlled the defense, which allowed very few goals. Bailey Hoffman, Llaritza Torres, Jessica Taylor, Erika Dias, Mattison Stokes, Halle Burrell, Maya Lopez, Nicole Kelsey, Amanda Arledge and Hayley Fife all scored goals, with Danielle Green, Daniella Angel and Gabriel Burns contributing assists. Goalkeeper Anekha “Brickhouse” Birdi protected the Crush goal, and Saturday’s game was the third time she has shut down opponents in penalty-kick shootouts.

This season, the Crush has won six tournament championships, with one third-place and one second-place finish. The last tournament for the season will be the California Youth Soccer Association State Cup, which begins Jan. 23 at Plasencia Fields in Tracy.

U12 Lyones take second in first tournament

The Tracy Futbol Club under-12 boys Tracy Lyones soccer team took second place in the NorCal State Cup Championships over the weekend, the first tournament for the team.

After wins in the quarterfinal and semifinal games, the Lyones faced Atlas 97 of Sacramento in the Bronze 4 final in Woodland. Lyones couldn’t find the offense it needed and settled for runners-up with a 2-0 loss.

In the semifinal, Lyones defeated DeAnza Force, 2-1, in Santa Rosa on Dec. 5. Andre Madruga scored one of the Lyones’ goals on a pass from Lorenzo Gonzalez, and Mateo Carrera, assisted by Gonzalez, scored the other. Outstanding defense was provided by Angelo Alejandre and Dominic Piazza.

In the quarterfinal, Lyones defeated Brentwood Impact, 3-0, on Dec. 4 in Santa Rosa. Goals were scored by Matthew Guzman, assisted by Jonathan Marin; Hugo Picaso, assisted by Lorenzo Gonzalez; and Andre Madruga, who scored unassisted. Defenders Alejandre and Connor Waters kept the Impact’s offense from scoring.

Other Lyones players are Ralph Archbold, Miguel Arevalo, Matthew Leal, Jonathan Marin, Dominick Paz, Billy Shaddix and Erik Torres.
